Welcome to the official profile of 1980s alternative rock band, Modern Chant.
Featuring Annie Watkins on vocals and keyboards, Dale Chant on saxophone, flute and computer sequencing, and Marc Tracey on guitar. We were among the pioneers of electronic experimentation in the 1980s. Evolving from earlier lineups, by 1983 we performed at various pubs and venues in Melbourne’s inner city. Our unique blend of traditional instruments with digital backings was truly innovative during a time when most bands were either fully live or solely electronic.
